Hardwood
On the surface (no pun intended), both solid wood floors and engineered wood floors display gorgeous striations and natural variation. However, their respective structural differences make for specific home applications. The two biggest factors to help determine which type of hardwood planks will work best arelocation within your home and the type of subfloor.
Solid Hardwood Floors:
- are one solid piece of wood and are generally 3/4″ thick
- are produced from the finest domestic and exotic hardwood floors and are available in several widths
- can generally be recoated and refinished several times
- are more susceptible to humidity and temperature changes
- should only be installed above grade over approved wooden subfloors and must be nailed or stapled down
Engineered Hardwood Floors:
- have cross-ply construction which reduces the expansion/ contraction of planks caused by variations in humidity
- are produced from the finest domestic and exotic hardwood floors and are available in several widths
- are available in plank and longstrip format, in a wide variety of widths, thicknesses and colors in both North American and Exotic hardwoods
- can be installed on any level in the home
Glazed Ceramic Tile
We at Mohawk strive to produce attractive, affordable solutions for your surface needs and our Glazed Ceramic Tile succeeds in doing just that.
Found in nearly all of our tile collections, styles such as Sierra and [CERAMIC WILLOW GLEN] achieve the look of natural marbles and stones for your floor without added cost.
In an age–old creation process, clays are mined, ground to fine powders, blended with water, pressed together to form the body of the tile and finally dried to reduce moisture content. After being coated with glass–forming minerals and stained with a colored glaze, the tile is fired in kilns at approximately 2000° Fahrenheit to form the finished product.
Glazed Porcelain Tile
From (Monticino/Travino) to (Sorriso/Seguro), (Riverstone/Stone Creek) to (Borghesi/Alviano), our Glazed Porcelain can be found in every Mohawk collection of Ceramic Tile.
Although similar to our Glazed Ceramic Tile in surface, the blend of fine–grain clays and other minerals that compose our Porcelain translates into a more dense body. As a result, these styles are highly resistant to moisture, staining and wear.
Strong enough for exposure to freeze/thaw cycles, outdoor use of our Glazed Porcelain should be confined to covered areas.
Colorbody Porcelain
The Montara and Trapani styles that highlight our Slate Collection are made from ColorBody™ Porcelain, the densest of all Mohawk tile types.
With a through–color body and a water absorption rate of less than 0.5%, these styles are created with your heavy traffic area in mind.
Whether making a restaurant patron–proof or turning your own patio into a fine–dining establishment,ColorBody Porcelain is ideal for any indoor or outdoor, commercial or residential location.
Laminate
Having arrived from Europe over a decade ago, laminate flooring was inspired by countertop materials, only it’s at least 20 times stronger. With a direct pressure laminate surface it is virtually impossible for spills and scuffs to leave a mark. The clear surface layer protects the pattern underneath and is highly resistant to cigarette burns and scratches from pets. Maintenance is quick and easy using a damp cloth or vacuum and most household cleaning chemicals will not harm a laminate floor. The surface is hygienic and is excellent for people suffering from allergies.
Specially engineered with layered construction, laminate flooring can be installed almost anywhere in the home, including over dry concrete slabs, wooden subfloors and many types of existing floor coverings. The low clearance space height means laminates are particularly suited for renovation and restoring old houses where floor thicknesses can be a problem.
Mohawk Laminate Flooring offers a wide selection of rich colors and designs in several different grades, including laminates with pre–attached underlayments to help deaden sound and keep the floor warmer and “embossed–in–register” designs in which the surface texture exactly matches the image texture for highly realistic look and feel of real hardwood, tile and stones styles.
Luxury Vinyl
Premium Glueless Luxury Vinyl planks are constructed with the patented Uniclic® interlocking joint that locks the planks together to form a tight, durable, water resistant joint. Premium Glueless LVT flooring is installed as a floating floor so it’s quick and easy to install with no adhesive required. All you need is a smooth dry surface and a few basic hand tools.Once the floor is installed it can receive traffic immediately.
